Troop 2 (also known as Troop 7002) is a co-ed Family Scouts BSA program for young men and young ladies based in South Seminole County Florida. Our troop leadership wants young people to earn rank advancements to get to the rank of Eagle Scout. We want you to challenge young people in the great outdoors to have memories that they will appreciate for a lifetime.

THE TROOP CHAIR DUTIES

Troop Chair – Adult Leader Responsibilities in our Troop(s). The troop committee chair appoints and supervises the unit committee and unit leaders, and organizes the committee to see that all committee responsibilities are delegated, coordinated, and completed.

Works Closely With The Scoutmasters
Ensures the committee is working in alignment with the youth leaders’ desired direction on running the Troop
Handles the Troop Recharter Process
Work with and through responsible adults to bring Scouting to life
Help youth to grow by encouraging them to learn for themselves
Guide youth in planning the Troop program planning
Ensure all necessary Gear Needs & Rank Advancements are available
Support the Youth Leaders with advice and counseling
Complete all Scouter Training

THE SCOUTMASTER DUTIES

Scoutmaster – Adult Leader Responsibilities in our Troop(s).

Reports to the Troop Chair
Get trained and guide youth leaders to run the Troop
Work with and through responsible adults to bring Scouting to life
Help youth to grow by encouraging them to learn for themselves
Guide youth in planning the Troop program
Report to Committee Gear Needs & Rank Advancements
Support the Youth Leaders with advice and counseling
Conduct Scoutmaster conferences
Complete all Scouter Training

THE ASSISTANT SCOUTMASTER – SAfety Advisor DUTIES

Assistant Scoutmaster (Safety Advisor) – Adult Leader Responsibilities in our Troop(s).

Train and guide youth leaders to run the Troop
Work with and through responsible adults to bring Scouting to life
Help youth to grow by encouraging them to learn for themselves
Guide youth in planning the Troop program
Serve under the direction of the Scoutmaster & Troop Chair
Serve as the Troop leader in the absence of the Scoutmaster
Coordinate Outdoor Troop activities
Work with the Troop Quartermaster in maintaining Troop Equipment
Support the PLC with advice and counseling
Complete Scouter Training
Report to Troop Committee on Activities of the Troop

THE ASSISTANT SCOUTMASTER – NEW SCOUT DUTIES

Assistant Scoutmaster (New Scout) – Adult Leader Responsibilities in our Troop(s).

Work with and guide new scouts as they enter the Troop
Work with and through responsible adults to bring Scouting to life
Help youth to grow by encouraging them to learn for themselves
Follow up with new scouts & families to ensure they are active in the Troop program
Serve under the direction of the Scoutmaster & Troop Chair
Serve as the Troop leader in the absence of the Scoutmaster
Coordinate joint Webelos/Troop activities
Support the Patrol Leader, Assistant Patrol Leader, & Troop Guide with advice and counseling when working with new scouts in their patrol
Complete Scouter Training
Report to Troop Committee on Advancements up to 1st Class for New Scouts

THE TROOP COMMITTEE DUTIES

The Troop Committee’s primary responsibilities are supporting the Troop Chair & Scoutmaster(s) in delivering quality Troop program and handling Troop administration. Under the direction of the Troop Committee Chair, the meetings are held as required, usually monthly. The committee’s job is:

Attend Monthly Committee Meetings
Ensure The advancement process is working correctly
Work with Troop Quartermaster to ensure the necessary equipment is purchased and inventoried
Supply and/or get the necessary Troop transportation
Recruitment of youth for the Troop
Handle the recharter paperwork for the Troop
Overall support to the Scoutmaster(s)
To attend Committee Member training
Assist with Fundraising projects
Assist with the Troop’s Program in a support role only
Recruit new adults to become leaders to ensure the Troop has ‘two deep leadership’
Manage the Troop’s finances and records

Scouting programs instill in youth the values found in the Scout Oath and Scout Law. Scouting helps youth develop academic skills, self-confidence, ethics, leadership skills, and citizenship skills that influence their adult lives.
